At Saffron Kitchen Project (SKP), we support displaced persons by creating opportunity and fostering community through food. We are a UK registered non-profit organization that creates high quality, nutritious meals for vulnerable communities in Athens. Inspired by multiple cultures and traditions, we aim to do three things simultaneously: Nourish, Train, Employ.
Our first pillar – Nourish – provides vulnerable people, including but not limited to the homeless, migrants and refugees, with tasty and inventive meals in a sustainable way. We distribute to partner organizations throughout Athens, ensuring they receive delicious and nutritious meals, whilst avoiding food waste as much as possible.
The second pillar – Train – offers free culinary education and vocational training to refugees, in an effort to prepare our students for work in the hospitality industry. Our program will cover culinary skills as well as including soft skills training such as teamwork, leadership and time management.
Finally, the third pillar – Employ – will help tackle unemployment in Athens by generating job opportunities for people from the refugee and host community. The meals will be prepared by the community for the community
