Job Description
Overseeing, implementing, and managing kitchen operations and the kitchen team.
- Working as part of the kitchen team to prepare, cook, and serve meals for distribution.
- Training, guiding, and supervising the kitchen team in meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and food safety.
- Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of hygiene and food safety procedures and practices according to HACCP, keeping the appropriate records, and adjusting where necessary.
- Ensuring the kitchen operates according to Greek law and the Department of Health’s requirements. Ensuring the maintenance of the kitchen according to these standards (installations, equipment servicing, pest control, record keeping).
- Responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and adjustment of the menus according to feedback, seasonal produce, and the kitchen’s budget.
- Coordinating the timely implementation of the food distribution schedule. Liaising with partners for the logistics of distribution.
- Responsible for monitoring and keeping a record of the kitchen inventory, for ordering supplies (food and other), and for ensuring that equipment is well maintained and serviced when needed.
- Responsible for the implementation and the compliance with the department’s budget.
- Participation in team and departmental meetings for organisational and operational purposes.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- At least two years’ experience working in a kitchen management role as a chef, or a cook.
- Certification of cooking skills i.e., cook diploma certified by EOPPEP, or EFET certificate in food hygiene and safety.
- A strong team player with a flexible attitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to act on own initiative and take responsible decisions, and to work well both independently and within a team.
- Ability to work within a team with a diverse range of backgrounds and cooking experience levels.
- Good knowledge of Google drive, documents, and sheets.
- Fluency in Greek and English.
- Have the right to work in Greece.
Desirable Requirements
- Health Certificate valid in Greece.
- Experience delivering culinary training.
- Experience working or volunteering in NGOs, preferably in NGOs working with displaced people in Greece.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
What We Offer

- A fixed-term 6 months’ contract under Greek law (renewable pending on funding).
- €1.200/per month (gross).
- 25 days annual leave, excluding public holidays.
- Work hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00-17:00.
