MedINA is looking for a Communications Officer that will be responsible for managing MedINA’s communications and visibility needs on an organisational and project-based level, to raise visibility and outreach to its target audiences. He/She will create content and manage all its digital communications tools as well as establish the necessary media relations to drive engagement and further MedINA’s mission. The Communications Officer will report to the Head of Development. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in the field of communications as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Greek and English. Preference will be given to those who have experience and skills in the environmental field and particularly the civil society sector.

Main responsibilities:

o   Lead on the design and implementation of MedINA’s annual communication strategy, in line with its Strategic Plan and Key Performance Indicators.

o   Develop, write and edit communications materials, including press releases, social media content, website texts, fundraising materials and content for brochures and newsletters etc., in alignment with MedINA brand standards.

o   Manage all of MedINA’s digital communications tools: social media channels, website, newsletter.

o   Work with MedINA team members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns.

o   Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.

o   Monitor and track analytics, propose adaptation strategies to drive engagement and regularly report to the Head of Development and the Management Team.

o   Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.

o   Plan and organise events at local, national and international level, if needed.

o   Manage the communication needs and implement communication activities required for on-going funded projects.

o   Support the development of funding and sponsorship proposals as well as fundraising projects.

 

Required qualifications:

o   Academic qualification in communication and/or in relevant areas.

o   At least two years of work experience in communications, preferably in the field of Civil Society Organisations and/or on issues of nature and/or culture.

o   Outstanding written communication skills in English and Greek, as well as public speaking skills.

o   Experience in writing and editing content for communication material.

o   Experience in managing online tools, websites and social media.

o   Experience in designing communication strategies and campaigns.

o   Excellent computer skills: proficient user of the MS Office suite and use of image editing software.

o   Interest and knowledge in environmental issues.

o   Excellent team working, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

 

Desired qualifications:

o   Knowledge of additional languages especially of the Mediterranean region (mainly French, Spanish, Arabic).

o   Experience in the organisation of events/meetings for Greek and international audiences.

o   Experience in managing communications activities in EU and other funded projects.

o   Participation in voluntary community-based actions and/or activities of environmental or cultural organisations.
